International field study to Brazil

Jason Carson mentioned our field study trip to Brazil for Honeywell International in his blog Chronicles of a BYU MBA. I had no idea that my 2nd semester was going to be as wild and crazy as it was. I kind of slid in on the field-study project at the last minute but was very fortunate to be on the team with Jason and 5 other students. The work was quite demanding, our group came together really well, and we delivered some excellent results. 3 of our team members, including Jason, went on to summer internships with Honeywell all over the US.

We had late-late-late nights around the hotels where we joked, strategized, and shared stories. We saw beautiful sunsets from the car as we drove to our various destinations, team members trying hard not to fall asleep in meetings because of jet lag and severe lack of sleep, grafitti-riddled walls and buildings all over each city we visited, shacks that housed the poorest of Brazil's civilians, and a little girl crawling in the trash bin to fetch aluminum cans for her father. I remember the colors and sounds of the deep tropical jungle, the bobbing of turtle heads in the ocean, the roadside stop to buy a bushel of mini bananas, and the wonderful people of Brazil.

Honeywell paid for all of our expenses and gave us a healthy food budget that allowed us to explore the various tastes to be experienced in Paradise. I don't know if I'll ever find more delicious fruit anywhere else in the world. The first hotel we stayed at had a continental breakfast with these pineapple slices, white in color, when I bit into them I felt like I'd found heaven. Sorry...got a little distracted there for a sec. Several senior managers flew in for our presentation and Jason, Matt, Brooke, and Logan did an amazing job sharing our results.

The BYU MBA program provided:

1. Consulting opportunity with a Global Fortune 500 company.
2. Chance to work and play in Paradise.
3. Valuable HR and business classes mixed with a way to immediately implement the knowledge gained.
4. Exceptionally talented team members to work with that made for an amazing educational experience.

Does it get any better than that?
